Speakeasy Burlesque
Speakeasy Burlesque is a burlesque dance and performance troupe based in New England that revives the classical variety of Burlesque. Speakeasy Burlesque takes you back to an era when tease pleased. In contrast with Neo and Modern Burlesque, where the reveal comes quick, Speakeasy asks you to wait, to anticipate and to get excited about subtlety. Why do we take this path? Because Burlesque has always been a counter culture movement. So what do we do when pop culture is hyper sexualized, fast and easy? We take it slow, reveal less, and focus on the tease.
Monadnock Comedy Cult
Monadnock Comedy Cult is a comedy showcase production and open mic that was born in the midst of the pandemic chaos. During its early first years, we preformed in bowling alleys, literal alleys and the occasional parking lot. It was a bit like fight club but for stand up comedy, we had to balance no advertising because of social distancing and stay at home mandates with the need to continue working on material. So the word spread throughout New England one open mic comic to the next until we were hosting open mics with more than 20 comics and basically no audience besides other comics. Talk about a tough room. Since then, we have curated local shows with incredible up and coming comics like Jorden Jensen, Caitlin Peluffo, Steven Rodgers and more. Our shows are often put on at Nova Arts, Machina Arts (now closed) and Sidestream Studio.
